Nobody Said It Was Easy

After a snow-cancelled flight, two hours waiting to be de-iced, and a missed connection in Paris, what should have been a short non-stop flight to Madrid was anything but. However, we're here and safe and I think our bodies are happier with us because we'll get adjusted to timezones faster with the delays. When we finally arrived in Madrid, at the top of the stairs of our final Metro stop we heard this guy. Funny.

We grabbed a quick shower and made our way to Plaza de Puerta Del Sol (with a few quick stops to look at shops) where we got some tapas, paella, and wine.

Tomorrow will be packed to make up for our lost day and then we leave Madrid for Alicante on Wednesday.

Prelude to Waffle House

This weekend, I was guilted into going to Barrister's Ball, which is essentially law school prom. I thought I was off the hook when the deadline to buy tickets had passed, but one of my friends arranged to buy a ticket, another leant me a dress and next thing I knew, I was curling my hair. Overall, I'm glad I went but it seemed like a really elaborate excuse to end up at Waffle House.

Mardi Gras is tomorrow, but probably the only way I'll celebrate  is by eating pancakes for dinner. For anyone who feels like going out to partake in the tradition, IHOP is giving away free pancakes tomorrow.  Then later this week, I'm going back to Atlanta for a few days to celebrate my birthday. I've heard rumors of a Haydel's kingcake but I'll just be glad to be home.

Random things

1. I am addicted to Quicken Online. Mesmerized by pie charts of my spending, which makes me critical of every cent I spend. For now, it's still fun.

2. Spain trip coming up--Madrid, Alicante, Barcelona. Let me know if there is something you're dying to have from Spain (I only have room in my suitcase for one sword from Toledo and it's taken).

3. I am, according to school records, still enrolled in law school. Doesn't feel like it but I do manage to show up when I have class.

4. I'm slowly moving my crap out of Nashville and back to Atlanta.  I'm sure my mother is thrilled to have it in her house again.

5. I've discovered Publix Premium Ice Cream: Chocolate Trinity. On sale this week. Mmm.
